We thought it would never happen, we has sleepless nights, we thought STARZ must be crazy, we worried when we heard Ron D Moore was involved with another project, we stressed, we fretted, we tweeted and NOW we have the announcement the cast, crew and production and fans all deserve.  No only do we have a Season 3 confirmation – to cover Voyager, but also a Season 4 – for Drums of Autumn.

Now, I wonder what you did when you heard?  Maybe you leapt for joy, maybe you cried with happiness, perhaps you did do a happy dance. To tell the truth I did all of those things!  Now we can relax and enjoy the remainder of Season 2, cause I can tell you, fretting about Season 3 was taking a toll on me.  I really needed Jamie to tell me “Dinna fash, Sassenach”.

Here is the “official” word from STARZ.

Starz CEO Chris Albrecht said of the renewal, “‘Outlander’ is like nothing seen before on television. From its depiction of a truly powerful female lead character, to the devastating decimation of the Highlander way of life, to what is a rarely seen genuine and timeless love story, it is a show that not only transports the viewer, but inspires the passion and admiration of its fans. On this 25th anniversary of the publication of the first book in the U.S., we are thrilled and honored to be able to continue the story that began with author Diana Gabaldon, and is brought to life by the incredibly talented Ronald D. Moore. There are no better storytellers for ‘Outlander’ than this team, both in front and behind the camera.

  1. Fabulous news so long as we keep Sam and Cait. I’ve been a reader and fan of the books for many years and really had not planned to watch the series outside of the first few episodes. I didn’t believe they could capture the character of Jaimie or Claire for that matter on television. Sam and Cait changed my mind. They are Jaimie and Claire. I’m reading the books again for the 4th or 5th time and I see the faces of Sam and Cait as I read. I have encouraged many to watch who have never read the books because the casting was spot on for these two. They both deserve awards for their acting. I really hope they know how much they contribute to bringing these characters to life on the screen.

    1. I wholly agree that Sam and Caitriona embody Jamie and Claire. Love them both.
