Outlander Season 6 – It’s a Wrap!
Outlander|Starz made an massive announcement to fans today. As well as giving us a World Outlander Day video with the cast, they announced that filming on Season 6 had wrapped! There will be eight episodes on Season 6, see explanatory comments from Matt Roberts below.
Dinna Fash about fewer episodes in Season 6, after all a huge chunk of storyline (Claire’s kidnapping) from book 6, “An Echo In The Bone” was included in Season 5.
Here is what Matt Roberts has to say… “We are excited to get into the editing room to work on bringing the fans one step closer to reuniting with the family back on Fraser’s Ridge,” said showrunner Matthew B. Roberts in a statement. “Filming in 2021 has presented an unprecedented set of challenges which led us to the decision to truncate the season in order to bring the fans the most vibrant and dynamic season as soon as possible. Dinna fash, we will then film an extended season 7 with 16 episodes next year as life returns to normalcy.”
Wow! 16 episodes in Season 7! That’s something to look forward to with certainty. Given the possibility of flexibility, already displayed, in combining material from more than one book in a season, the 16 episodes of Season 7 (book 7, “A Breath of Snow and Ashes”) could have some crossover into book 8 (Written In My Own Heart’s Blood). Time will tell! By that time it’s possible the producers will have caught up to the currently published books. Book 9 “Go Tell the Bees that I Am Gone” is scheduled to be published on November 23, 2021.
While we wait for Season 6 to arrive, in early 2022 (possibly in February), lets enjoy and dissect these new images from Starz, photo credit for all images to Robert Wilson.
